Senior Facebook employee: Zuckerberg is too powerful and Facebook is damaging society

A senior Facebook employee feels that his own company has grown too large for society’s good and must be stopped before it does any more damage, as well as warning that artificial intelligence’s aim is to defeat humanity.

Benny Thomas, who has worked at Facebook since September 2019 as its Global Planning Lead, revealed an array of inside information and the threats posed by the ever expanding tech behemoths in an undercover exposé.

I work for a company that is doing a lot of damage in the world. It’s doing a lot of good but it’s doing a lot of damage,” said Thomas, unaware that he was being secretly filmed by a journalist from Project Veritas.

“He [Zuckerberg] owns a controlling stake in the company. So, you can’t do it the usual way that you do it in corporate, which is the board can just fire you, right?

“The board can’t do that to [Mark] Zuck. The board can’t do that to Larry Page and Sergey Brin [Google] because they own too much of the company.

“They’re too powerful,” he added.

Zuckerberg should go and Facebook needs breaking up

Thomas went onto state that he would fire his own CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and that Facebook needs to be broken up.

“I mean, no king in the history of the world has been the ruler of two billion people, but Mark Zuckerberg is. And he’s 36. That’s too much for a 36-year-old. You should not have power over two billion people. I just think that’s wrong,” he said.

“Most people don’t understand these things and most people don’t think about them, which is why a lot of sh*t goes down because a lot of people aren’t paying attention,” Thomas said.

Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, Oculus, WhatsApp… they all need to be separate companies. It’s too much power when they’re all one together. It needs to be broken up the way the telecom companies were broken up and the oil companies were broken up.

“I would break [Facebook] up, and I would remove Zuck as the CEO.”

Facebook and Google are countries, not companies

In a later meeting, Thomas added that the likes of Facebook and Google have become more like nations than companies and must be stopped.

Facebook and Google are no longer companies, they are countries. They’re more powerful than any country.

“They’re only going to become bigger,” says the journalist. “Unless they’re stopped. They must be stopped [laughs]. Like it says in the Matrix.”

“But what’s going to stop it?” asks the journalist. “The government,” Thomas responds.

“It has to be stopped because it’s not good for society.”

“The problem is, then the government has to step in, which is what needs to happen as well.

“The government needs to step in and break up Google and Facebook. I’ll make less money, but it’s a better thing for the world.

“Facebook and Google are too powerful and they need to be made less powerful.”

AI’s evolution will make humans expendable

Thomas underlined his concerns over Artificial Intelligence (AI), stressing that it should be an existential concern for humanity.

“AI is essentially evolving to become like human intelligence. And then, it’s going to go beyond human intelligence and at that point, humans are expendable,” he said.

“If you ever went to a picnic, we would not spend one minute thinking about the ants that we stepped on the grass, right?

“For AI, we will become like those ants. So, I might be killing hundreds of ants when I walk in the park, I don’t know, and I don’t care. It’s not a thing that I care about. We will be like those ants,” Thomas warned.
